Two Carolina Golfers Advance To Match Play At U.S. Women's Amateur

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Two University of North Carolina golfers advanced to match play at the 2008 U.S. Women's Amateur in Eugene, Ore. Allie White, a rising freshman, shot an one-over-par 73 in the second round of stroke play for a 145 total to finish in 18th place. Sydney Crane, a rising senior, shot two-over 74 on Tuesday for a 150 total to tie for 43rd place.

Match play begins Wednesday at the par 72, 6,484-yard Eugene Country Club as the low 64 scorers advance on to match play. White, from Lancaster, Ohio, and Crane, from Jamestown, N.C., await their opponent in the first match as the pairings have not yet been set. The champion will be crowned Sunday following a 36-hole final match.
