Varsity And Novice Squads Announce Team Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina rowing head coach Sarah Haney and novice coach Stephen Arthur-Wong have announced season honors for the Tar Heel varsity and novice squads. For the varsity squad, senior Lisy McIntee was honored for Fastest 2K, claiming the award for the third time in her career. Sophomore Megan McMullin received the Spirit Award, while junior Katie Wood won the Coach's Award. Sophomore Lindley Barrow was honored as Most Improved. For the novice squad, coxswain Jill Lundsford was named MVP, and Cait Clendenin received the Coach's Award. The Spirit Award went to Lindsay Paterniti, and Emily Johnson was named Most Improved. All four of the novice award winners were freshmen during the 2007-08 school year.
McIntee also was honored as the varsity squad's Outstanding Performer in Strength and Conditioning. Sophomore coxswain Amy Dement was recognized for having earned Super Ram status in strength and conditioning workouts. Dement, sophomore Andi Drabot, junior Whitney Hileman and senior Cara Van Dorn were honored as Steel Heels for their permance in strength and conditioning throughout the year.
Nine team members earned varsity letters for the 2007-08 season. They are Lindley Barrow, Whitney Hileman, Lisy McIntee, Megan McMullin, Cara Van Dorn, Maegan Wareham, Shannon Wilson, Kathryn Winz and Ruby Woodside. McIntee and Wareham are among just five team members in program history to earn four letters. McMullin, Wilson and Woodside all were second-time letterwinners, while Barrow, Hileman, Van Dorn and Winz lettered for the first time. |
