Friends Of Carolina Wrestling Golf Classic Set For Sept. 13

May 28, 2008

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina wrestling team will hold its second annual Friends of Carolina Wrestling Golf Classic Saturday, Sept. 13 at UNC's Finley Golf Course. The event was a great success in its first year, with over 100 wrestling alumni, parents and friends uniting on the golf course. The day also provides a first look at the 2008-09 UNC wrestling team, with golfers having the opportunity to meet the wrestlers at each hole along the course.

All proceeds from the event will go toward the Carolina Wrestling Club, which serves wrestling at all levels in the area - scholastic, collegiate and Olympic. Over the past year, the Carolina Wrestling Club achieved success at all levels, with five of its high school wrestlers winning state championships, the youth club winning state titles in spring competition and UNC wrestler Justin Dobies earning All-America honors with a fourth-place finish in freestyle competition at the University Nationals.

This event is sure to sell out, so register early. The 10 a.m. shotgun start will be followed by an awards ceremony, silent auction and an introduction of the 2008-09 Carolina wrestling team. A pig pickin' will also be held beginning at 3 p.m.

For more information on the event, contact golf@carolinawrestlingclub.com or DeWitt Driscoll at (724) 984-1217.
