Fox Named ABCA Atlantic Region Coach Of The Year

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - North Carolina head coach Mike Fox has been tabbed as the American Baseball Coaches Association's Atlantic Region Coach of the Year for the third year in a row after a vote of the region's coaches. Fox led the Tar Heels to their third-consecutive appearance in the NCAA College World Series in 2008. North Carolina finished with a 54-14 record and went 22-7 in the Atlantic Coast Conference while winning the ACC's Coastal Division. UNC notched regional and super regional crowns and then went 3-2 at the College World Series before being eliminated by eventual champion Fresno State. It marked the Tar Heels' third-consecutive top-three national finish.
Fox also was honored as Baseball America's National Coach of the Year
in 2008, becoming the first-ever ACC coach to win the award from
Baseball America.
