General: Ranks No. 1 on Carolina's preseason depth chart in the 200 fly (1:47.35), the 200 IM (1:48.76) and the 400 IM (3:47.04)...a returning letter winner who clearly was one of the most versatile swimmer to enroll at Carolina in many years when he did so in 2007...school record holder in the 400-yard IM as a freshman (3:47.04)... a tremendous IM specialist who also has solid times in the 200 fly, 200 breast and the distance freestyle events.

Long Course Highlights: Set a pair of University long course records in the summer of 2008...also set Virginia state U.S.S. long course records this past summer in the 200 IM and 400 IM...he went 2:04.39 in the 200-meter individual medley and 4:21.94 in the 400-meter individual medley at the 2008 U.S. Open to establish those marks... finished ninth overall and first in the "B" final in the 400-meter IM...he copped 13th place standings in both the 200 fly (2:02.46, prelim time 2:01.85) and 200 breaststroke (2:19.50) as well...qualified for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in three events -- the 200-meter fly, the 200-meter IM and the 400-meter IM...at those Trials, he set what were then school records in the 200 IM at 2:05.89 and in the 400 IM where he placed 12th...finaled in the 400 IM at 2007 summer senior nationals, taking 15th place.

Open Water Highlights: Finished fourth at the USA Swimming 5K Open Water National Championships in Fort Myers, Fla. last spring.

2007-08 (Freshman): Earned All-America honors with a 14th-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley at the NCAA Championships...was the ACC champion in the 400-yard individual medley...at the ACC Championships he set career best times in the 400-yard IM with a time of 3:47.04 and in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:47.35...set a career best in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:48.76 at the NCAA Championships...also set a career best time in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:14.36 in the dual meet against Minnesota...his time of 3:47.04 in the 400-yard IM was a school record and gave him the league title...named ACC Men's Swimmer of the Week on November 13, 2007 after winning a trio of individual events in the Tar Heels' dual meet against Duke...was a member of the 800-yard freestyle relay that finished fourth at the ACC Championships with a time of 6:34.66, knocking more than 12 seconds off the relay's seed time...placed sixth in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:49.65...his performance in the 400 IM at the ACC Championships made him the first Tar Heel to take the title in that event since 1986...his time of 1:47.53 in the 200 butterfly at the ACC Championships earned him seventh place...earned first-team All-ACC honors ... named an All-America, one of the three Tar Heels selected, the most for Carolina since 2004...received the team's Most Valuable Swimmer Award... named to the 2008 All-ACC Academic Men's Swimming and Diving Team, one of eight Tar Heels selected
